Trash Collection

  • Schedule: Trash is collected once a week from back or side yards. To find your specific collection day, contact the Public Works Department at 216-491-1490.
  • Container Requirements:
    • Use galvanized or weather-resistant plastic containers with tight-fitting lids.
    • Containers should not exceed 32 gallons in capacity or 40 pounds when filled.
    • Ensure containers are maintained in a sanitary condition at all times.
  • Placement Guidelines:
    • Place containers in front of the garage door, at the corner of the house, or on the driveway.
    • Keep containers outside of enclosures and fences.
    • Clear driveways of parked cars by 7 a.m. on collection day to allow access for collection vehicles.
  • Preparation:
    • Bag or wrap all garbage before placing it in containers.
    • Do not store any other materials within 4 feet of the container area to prevent accidental disposal.

Recycling Collection

  • Schedule: Recycling is collected weekly on the same day as trash.
  • Accepted Materials:
    • Cans: All metal food and beverage cans.
    • Cups: Aluminum and some plastic cups (excluding plastic party cups).
    • Glass Bottles & Jars: Empty, rinse, and replace lids.
    • Paper & Boxes: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, shipping boxes, greeting cards, cereal boxes, and clean pizza boxes.
    • Plastic Bottles, Jugs & Tubs: Containers should be emptied, rinsed, and caps or lids replaced.
  • Preparation Guidelines:
    • Empty and rinse all containers.
    • Leave caps and lids on.
    • Do not bag recyclables; place them loose in the recycling bucket.
    • Commingle (mix together) recyclables in your recycling bucket.
  • Recycling Buckets: Request free 5-gallon recycling buckets by emailing Public Works or calling 216-491-1490.

Yard Waste Collection

Holiday Collection Schedule

Additional Resources

  • Missed Pick-Ups: Report missed trash or recycling pick-ups within 24 hours by using the Report a Collection Problem form, emailing Public Works, or calling 216-491-1490.
  • Recycling Center: Residents can bring recyclables to the Service Center at 15600 Chagrin Boulevard on Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring an ID.
